OUR COMMITMENT

At 10 Karaköy, we are committed to preserving the heritage of Balıklı Han, protecting the environment and making a positive impact in our local community. Within this philosophy, we are happy to share some of our sustainability initiatives we implement in our hotel.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS

• Vegan and vegetarian menu items available.
• Linens and towels replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.

ENERGY, CARBON AND WATER REDUCTION

• Water, electricity and chemical consumption monitored on a regular basis and necessary improvement actions taken.
• Saving bulbs in public areas, LED lights in the restaurant and motion sensitive lightining in toliets used to save energy.
• Automated heating and cooling system used to save enegery.
• Mesurement equipment and cold storages are calibrated on a regular basis.
• Photocell faucet used in public toilets.
• Perlator in shawers and faucets used to save water.
• 100-liter water tank installed under rain water pipe to be used for plant watering.

WASTE REDUCTION

• Waste separation program in place.
• Employees are trained on chemical usage periodically to prevent unnecessary chemical usage
• Glass bottle water served to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles.
• On-site bottling area utilizing reusable glass bottles to reduce waste.
• Recycling paper program in place.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD AND BEVERAGE

• Local, sustainable and seasonal menu items available
• Cage-free eggs
• Food waste reduction program in place
• Local, high-quality produce and ingredients used in our kitchens, including fish sourced from Istanbul-based suppliers

COMMUNITY

• 10 Karaköy commits to preserve heritage of 18th century building - Balıklı Han with an ongoing maintainence program.
• Local artists including Ceylan Dökmen, Yiğit Yazıcı, Güketik Çizgen, Ahmet Güçsav, Pınar Kalem, Selin Sarpkan, Orhan Kurmalı, Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu featured in the Hotel lobby, restaurant, bars and across the property.
• 10 Karaköy hosts a special exhibition of a local online art and design platform, Art Crowd in Kupaj Lounge to support local artists.
• 10 Karaköy is a regular accommodation sponsor of Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair and Istanbul Biennial.
• 10 Karaköy supports Türkiye Alzheimer Association.
• 10 Karaköy sponsors one of the classes of Okul Destek Derneği to educate students and bring them to tourism industry.
